Chris Goodwin hit me with an inspirational idea: he created a quick conversion document to use Expedition to the Barrier Peaks in a Western campaign, and he noted that he felt it best to warn players up front that the game would be something of a double-cross.
No; that's not right. He warned them that there would be a twist that would take it somewhere they didn't expect it to go.
Both the idea and the warning that this adventure wasn't what they thought it was inspired me to create a place for this adventure to actually happen: a setting, if you will. However, in keeping with the idea that "this western adventure will not go where you think it's going," I opted to turn that classic double-cross into a triple cross, just to keep them guessing.
