Since Fantasy Hero lists comedy as a sub-genre in fantasy, why not try a comedic game? This would probably be better as a one-shot game than a campaign. I'm thinking of using Harvard Lampoon's Bored of the Rings satire as a setting. For those unfamiliar with the book, here are some links: General informationCharactersMapCharacters would be skilled normals rather than heroes, as nobody in the book is actually heroic. Incompetent normals would be more appropriate, but the players probably won't have fun playing those. Anachronisms (such as guns) and bad puns would abound. True magic would be rare; Goodgulf is actually a huckster who knows a few card tricks rather than a bona fide wizard. Cowardly and underhanded characters are appropriate to this game and should be encouraged.

It was a very fun book but I don't know if it would make for a very good game. I'm not really fond of comedic games in general though so maybe I'm not the best judge.

Comedic games are hit or miss, but they can work as a one-shot game as long as the players know that it's supposed to be a silly game.

Of course, there will be a lot of puns available, along with a bunch of anachronisms. And of course, the main religion would be Scientology. What, you've never heard of Elrond Hubbard?
