So did anyone else come to Hero through Rolemaster? I started with MERP, get Rolemaster, and then saw Champions in the ICE catalog. Once I got it, BAM, I was hooked. Lately, though, I'm having some Rolemaster nostalgia. I'm probably gonna be getting the Rolemaster Unified system when they release it. I have no idea if I'll ever play it, but hey, I'll have it in my collection.

I have a ton of MERP stuff for reference and ideas, but I never really liked the Rolemaster system very well.

It has a ridiculous amount of tables! I remember going from Rolemaster to Hero and saying, "Wait... I don't have to look up damage in tables?? The damage roll does it all??!" That plus the ability to create everything I wanted just sold me on Hero.

I like Rolemaster, but my players didn't like all the tables. Still, we used the MERP critical hit and fumble tables for our AD&D games.

I have been thinking of starting a Rolemaster game (the old system) using the Middle-earth modules published by ICE.
