I have one character in my SteamPunk Fantasy HERO campaign who is the captain of an Airship who also wears heavy aether-powered battle armor when expecting a real fire-fight.
To squeeze it all in, we opted for the Airship and Armor to be vehicles at the same # of points, then 5 points for 2x vehicles; fairly standard.
Where are the rules for handling damage to occupants of a vehicle? I have my own system for it, for the moment, but am having trouble tracking down official rules.

The Ultimate Vehicle (5e) has a lot to say on the subject. I can't find anything in 6e2 on it, though, nor in the APGs.

That way you can buy the PA in a way that doesn't require rules kludges. Well, the player is an Airship Captain and I had no idea how to do that other than "Vehicles." So I opted to bundle the armor as such as well - it is supposed to be big, klunky steampunk power armor so it seemed to to work. In the setting, I have decided you can buy "standard equipment" - armor, swords, guns, etc. - with money, but anything beyond the basics would have to be paid for with points. Due to the pricing of things like airships and mechanized armor and how I set up wealth and starting funds, I didn't want a wealth 15 character in the party and set the limit on wealth to 10 points. So he has two 137-point vehicles. It was about the only way to make it all work. And it is kind of a test run to see if it does work - I know I've heard of Ironman being done using vehicles. |

Pulp Hero has an optional rule to let PCs transfer damage from themselves to equipment. It's a bit of conundrum when your equipment is salvaged and therefore difficult to replace or repair.
You could do the same thing in reverse. Damage to vehicles goes as normal. At the player's option, the pilot can take the damage personally instead of allowing their vehicle to become more damaged and possibly impaired. You may have to scale the damage down for players if the actual incoming damage is too high for them to possibly take. Like all hits always do 2d6 or 3d6 normal damage, and personal armor doesn't count. Roll hit locations after the player decides to take the damage if you want to make it more risky for a player to decide to take damage.

The Equipment Pool rules are in the Advanced Player's guide. In a nutshell you as GM choose how many points worth of Vehicles, Bases, Spells/Other Equipment Etc a PC would get. They use THOSE points to buy their stuff or pool their points together (ie the Airship might be a good place for PC's to Pool points, assuming that it's big enough to act as a base of operations)

The "best" way to do Iron Man, that I know of, is OIHID (-1/2), which often covered the majority of that kind of thing. Inre: using vehicle rules in FH, I agree with what you did here. While the common canon of FH suggests that everything can be done with cash, I've found it more efficient, and more in line with the system, to do it as point buy. Especially things like Air Ships and Power Armors that are unique to the character. If I were to rewrite that sentence: "Specifically those things that are unique to the character, such as air ships and power armor." There, clearer.
To the first question, I've commonly ruled as such:
* The armor absorbs any BODY and STUN based on its ratings
* You may elect to have some STUN get through to simulate shock, rocking, weapons damage, the rigors of combat
* Once a PAs actual armor/DEF is depleted, or, there is a hit on the 13, the pilot is endangered
* If the pilot is eligible as a target, then he becomes a called shot at -n., where n. is the value you're comfortable with based on damage and armor loss

The current plan / details: - Mechanized Armor costs points and can be bought either as slots with "Only In Heroic ID" or, for larger suits, bought as a Vehicle.
- Vehicle size is 2 to 3; nothing larger. A "size one" Vehicle would not represent enough volume to house a person within it.
- The Occupant is protected in a similar fashion as normal armor; they get their own PD + the defense of the armor vs the STUN of all attacks, and in the case of Killing Attacks, only receive the DEF of the armor against any BODY dealt. BODY dealt by killing attacks to a specific location have any BODY that gets through the DEF of the armor multiplied (or divided) by the BODYx value for that hit location, as normal (STUN is handled as normal and multiplied by the value for the location struck, before defenses are applied.)
- The Occupant cannot be targeted as the armor is full coverage; but penetrating or armor piercing attacks work as normal.

If you own a copy of Kazei 5, I put rules for damaging suits of powered armor in there. Also, the bigger suits of armor are treated like vehicles.
