Hi all. I'm Chris Goodwin; I'm a regular poster on the official Hero boards. I started the Unofficial HERO System Forum several years ago when there were people who had been banned from the official boards but still wanted a place to talk about the game. I'm currently off of Facebook, but when I'm not I can be seen in the Hero discussion group there, and occasionally on Captain Patriot's Discord under the name of "Some Guy On The Internet".
I started playing RPGs in 1981 with AD&D first edition; my gaming expanded from there to the rest of the TSR stable of boxed games (Top Secret, Gamma World, Star Frontiers, Gangbusters), from there to Car Wars, thence to Champions, GURPS, Over the Edge, Amber Diceless, and others; but my go-to system is Hero. I seem to have this weird talent for being able to keep track of minor differences between editions. My favorite edition is 3rd (Champions) or what I call "first generation" (everything prior to 4th) for the standalone games, but I'll play any edition if someone is going to run it.
Feel free to introduce yourself here!

I may as well jump in. I'm also CptPatriot from the Hero Games forum. I've been playing RPGs since 1978 starting with this version of the D&D rules: From there, my friends and I moved to Star Frontiers and Marvel Super Heroes. I didn't experience Champions & the Hero System until 1991 with the 4th edition.

I'm the brains behind Kestrel Arts, where I publish novels and gaming supplements. I've been gaming since the summer of 1979 where I learned to play AD&D in a little hole in the wall store called Stuff and Nonsense, and picked up Hero in 1982. I helped write the 4th edition Fantasy Hero Companion and have put out five books for Fantasy Hero. Eventually I hope to finish releasing a FH setting of my own world as a complete game built on the Hero Game System, and then do some introductory modules for Champions and Fantasy Hero. I've also written three novels and hope to write more in the future.

CRTaylor and I used to game together, in fact. There was an organized gaming club called the Game Alliance of Salem, which is where we met. Hero was the system of choice there, and we pretty much played everything with it. Various science fiction games long before Star Hero, western games long before Western Hero, giant robots before Robot Warriors. Dark Champions before Dark Champions, though we called it "Killer Champions". Hero Hipsters we were, I guess.

We gamed at home a few times too, Chris is a great guy and not just because of his first name.

I haven't done this so.....My handle is Steamteck but my actual name is a boring John. I always wondered if I had a less normal name would I be more conventional? I started playing RPGs in college 1976 with the first D&D books, the three brown booklets, and have been in love with them since. My late wife was a role player and three out of my four kids are. I love science fiction and fantasy but always loved superheroes most because it can mix and encompass both. I've GMed pretty steadily since college and established my current multverse campaign in the early 80s It started out bronze age fantasy and now is near futuristic Superheroes, same world.
I've dabbled at making my own system but ended up with HERO because why reinvent the wheel and it works fine for the mix of genres I use and gives me lots of creative control. My son and oldest daughter run their own campaigns ( HERO) but also play in mine. We play once sometimes twice a week. As I mentioned my universe is still that same one I started back in the 80's. Some players and playing their former characters kids even. Gaming life is pretty good and I admit i like to brag about it and my great gaming family
I was an optician but am now retired and look nothing like my Avatar Silver Streak. More like the Terrance Stamp general Zod.

Hello. My name is Snake. I'm a fairly new convert to the Hero system, with much of my gaming history being with other systems, mostly rules light fare. But as I get older, I find myself desiring more crunch in my rules, and that and about 15 years of curiosity finally led me to the Hero system. I've managed to collect quite a few PDFs, which I use exclusively these days, through the bundle of holding and purchases at Drivethrurpg.com. I must say I am quite impressed, and a little befuddled by the system (I mainly use 6th edition, but have books for all of them.) Thanks for having me.

I'm known on the web as Panpiper, here and everywhere since 1996. Played D&D in the late '70s. Have been a Hero devotee since first edition Champions. Played Fantasy with it before there was a Fantasy Hero.

I'm Mike Harvey but I go by Alcamtar on gaming forums. I started with B/X D&D in 1982 and discovered fantasy hero in 1985 or 1986. How the ability to play in a Star Hero game around that time also; I don't know if it was a play test for the real thing or just someone's homebrew.
My favorite Hero will always be original (3rd edition) Fantasy Hero, and I think the best rules version was 4th. I've played every edition since 1985. I feel like Hero lost its way post-2000 and the newer editions have lost the magic.
Had the opportunity to play with Chris Goodwin once or twice. Glad to see this forum is still kicking!
