I am not slamming the wonks and grogs -- everyone will turn into a grog after a length of time playing with the system. it is a natural state of things.
but there is no Peralto's Law operating here. You know it as the 80/20 principle. The Sidekick/Basic Rules were a step in the right direction, but most of the wonks just reported that they were 'incomplete' and therefore useless. noaday Kickstarters can keep the money rolling in -- but you cannot grow a business using them.
Kickstarters are projects that the core grog/wonk want, but they might not be the projects they need to make to grow the business.
STRIKEFORCE sounds great then you watch the videos and the writers are talking about how on the fresh lessons taught by Allison in this book are common place throughout the industry and the book could come of as cliche nowadays. which means we are back with a book that the die hard fan base wants to see what happened their Strike Force characters.
What should Hero Games do? Don't make a 7th edition. 6th was a mistake, but it exists. They should release all the games they have, at least in pdf form -- though in the 21st century POD products should be a given. . Then you could use the very generous license to make actual products that new gamers want...
Please discuss cause I am not sure this rant even makes sense...
